From: Superintendent Niemann Re: Calendar Revision for the 2018-19 School Year Date: 3-21-19 As you are aware, the 2018-19 school year has been a challenging year in regards to the weather. Due to blizzards and extremely cold temperatures, Ashby Schools experienced four school closing days, six two hour late starts, and one 12:30 early out. Knowing that instructional time is important for student achievement and for various other reasons, the Ashby School Board, in cooperation with Supt. Niemann, made the tough decision at the March 20th school board meeting to utilize the four scheduled “make-up” days which are designed into our annual school calendar to extend the school year and make up for lost instructional time. As such, students in grades K-11 will now be required to attend school on May 28th, 29th, and 30th. Additionally, pre-school will also not be in session during the extended days. This school year extension will NOT affect the scheduled May 26th graduation ceremony and seniors will not be required to return to school after that date. -- Alan Niemann, Superintendent Ashby Public Schools, ISD 261 218-747-2257 x105 |
