Class of 2021: Doing Their PartA few years ago, a group of 6th graders in science class became very upset about plastic pollution. While they understood that they were just one small class, they also knew if everyone did their own small thing, it could add up to big things. They started up the school’s recycling program, raised money to purchase recycling containers for Ashby parks, and they passed out reusable shopping bags throughout the community. That group of environmental advocates are now the Ashby Senior Class of 2021. Since they have always done their best to make their school, community, and planet a better place, they’ve decided that this spring as their final class project, they will plant at least 100 trees around the area.
They invite you, out in the community, to join the effort and sponsor a tree (or two) in honor of someone important to you. All you need to do is make a donation (of any amount you like) in one of the boxes located in most Ashby businesses. They will plant your tree out in nature along with a medallion carrying the name of the person you’d like to honor. All proceeds will be donated to the Ashby Legacy Fund. You can also mail your donation (include your honoree’s name) to the Ashby School. If you have questions, please contact any student in the Class of 2021 or Heidi Kent at the Ashby Public School. Help the planet, support the community, and honor a favorite! Go Green!
