Years from now, when high school is just a distant memory, you will find yourself in a situation where you will run into an old friend. Maybe it's just a coincidence or a planned reunion but regardless of the reason, you will find yourself face to face with an older version of a good friend. At that moment, memories and thoughts of the past will come back to both of you. Some may be welcomed while others are painful. Through this reunion What both of you will remember are the characteristics that made you who you were at that time. Either one of you may have been a great athlete, an honor roll student, a dropout, an FFA star, a musician, or just a little bit of everything. None of that will matter. What does matter and what will be remembered are the characteristics that made you who you were. The point of this story is this.... The characteristics we have now often shape who we will be in the future. Those of us who have determination, grit, patience, a strong work ethic, who are kind, courteous, humble and eager to learn often find themselves on a path of happiness and success. The role we play in high school doesn’t define who we are, but the way we act, the way we handle difficult situations and the way we treat others, give us a great indicator of who we will become later in life. And though we often equate success to money, the characteristics that make us good people are the ones that lead to the greatest sense of happiness and inner wealth and often financial wealth. The following two students are being recognized by their teachers as being students who have character traits that we know will lead them to a path of success later in life. They have shown these characteristics every day in our school and community and we know that years down the road when they run into an old friend they will be remembered for the following things. For their efforts, will the following two students come down to receive a certificate for February Student of the month, along with a free lunch from one of our restaurants downtown.
