The School Board of District 261 met in regular session on May 19, 2014 in the Ashby School Media Center. Chair Wing called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM with members Hoff, Johnson, LaRue, Nelson, Rylander, and Wing present. Absent: Spangler. Also present were Superintendent Allan Jensen, Principal Shane Tappe, Renee Melby, Jeff Risbrudt, and Perry Butler.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Rylander moved to approve the agenda. LaRue seconded. MCU.
LaRue moved to approve the following consent agenda:
Nelson gave a report on Region 1 and Lakes Country Service Coop.
Hoff gave information on the development of the Ashby Community Scholarship Fund.
Wing thanked all the staff and students that helped at the Knick Family Benefit.

An update was given on the World’s Best Work Force.
Technology upgrades for 2014-15 were discussed. Johnson made a motion to approve $28,000.00 in technology upgrades. Nelson seconded. MCU.
Johnson made a motion to approve Minnesota State High School League Membership Resolution. Rylander seconded. Roll call vote: Hoff – yes, Nelson – yes, LaRue – yes, Rylander – yes, Johnson – yes, Wing – yes. Absent: Spangler. MCU.
LaRue made a motion to grant tenure to Troy Mickelson, Chad Akerson, and Ruth Umlauf and to extend the Probationary Period for Jessie Simon. Rylander seconded. MCU.
Nelson made a motion to approve work agreement for Meghan Roley as Summer Rec Director. LaRue seconded. MCU.
Rylander made a motion for elimination of the School Social Worker Position and corresponding work agreement with JoAnn Larson. Johnson seconded. MCU.
Johnson made a motion to approve the purchase of a Blue Bird bus. LaRue seconded. MCU.
Rylander made a motion to approve the shared School Counselor Contract with Battle Lake. LaRue seconded. MCU.
