The School Board of District 261 met in regular session on July 21, 2014 in the Media Center of the School. Chair Wing called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM with members Hoff, Johnson, LaRue, Nelson, Rylander, and Wing present. Absent: Spangler. Also present were Superintendent Allan Jensen, Principal Shane Tappe, Renee Melby, and Cindy Welch. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. LaRue moved to approve the amended agenda, Rylander seconded. MCU. Nelson moved to approve the following consent agenda:
Board Reports Hoff reported he has had a request to have the baseball/football field fertilized with the suggestion of each of the following groups splitting the expense: Ashby A’s, Ashby Youth Football, Ashby Public School. Hoff also reported on comments of the excessive clover on the school grounds. Nelson gave a report on Region 1, Lakes Country Service Coop, and the MN Service Coop Annual Conference. Wing gave a report on the Fergus Falls Special Ed Coop. Superintendent’s Report Mr. Jensen reported on the following:

Spangler joined the meeting at 6:42 pm. Mrs. Welch gave a report on Kindergarten. Discussion Items MSBA Summer Seminar will be held August 3rd and 4th. Action Items Nelson made a motion to approve the FY14, FY15, and FY16 Health and Safety Budgets as presented and the Health and Safety Policy as updated July 1, 2014. Rylander seconded. MCU. Nelson made a motion to approve memberships in MSBA, MASSP, MASA, and MASBO for 2014-15. LaRue seconded. MCU. Johnson made a motion to set fees for 2014-15 as follows: Admission Prices: Adults $6.00, Students $3.00, Seniors $3.00. Season passes: Fall: Family $40, Adult $30, Student $20, Seniors $10. Johnson made a motion to approve work agreements for the following: Renee Melby, Leo Ohren, Kristin Spangler, Kollyn Malecha, Heidi Hoff, Joyce Rylander. Rylander seconded. MCU. Johnson made a motion to accept the resignation from Marcia Andreasen and to not grant the extended leave request. Hoff seconded. MCU. Hoff made a motion to accept the resignation from Perry Evavold with appreciation. Spangler seconded. MCU. Johnson made a motion to accept the resignation from Joe Barfknecht. LaRue seconded. MCU. Johnson made a motion to approve teaching contracts with Kristine Walter and Andrew Peterson. Rylander seconded. MCU. Rylander made a motion to approve the ECFE and Junior Class Fundraisers. Hoff seconded. MCU. Nelson brought forward Resolution No. 15.01 relating to the election of School Board Members and calling the School District General Election and moved its adoption. Spangler seconded. Roll call vote: Hoff-yes, Spangler-yes, Nelson-yes, LaRue-yes, Johnson-yes, Rylander-yes, Wing-yes. MCU. Johnson introduced Resolution No. 15.02 relating to renewing the expiring referendum revenue authorization of the School District and calling an election thereon and moved its adoption. Rylander seconded. Roll call vote: Hoff-yes, Spangler-yes, Nelson-yes, LaRue-yes, Johnson-yes, Rylander-yes, Wing-yes. MCU. Nelson made a motion to approve the work agreement for John Kent as Athletic Director. Hoff seconded. MCU.
