October 20, 2014
The School Board of District 261 met in regular session on October 20, 2014 in the Media Center of the School. Chair Wing called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM with members Hoff, Johnson, LaRue, Nelson, Spangler, and Wing present. Absent: Rylander. Also present were Superintendent Allan Jensen, Principal Shane Tappe, Renee Melby, Barb Kraemer, and Jeremy Knick.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
LaRue moved to approve the amended agenda, Spangler seconded. MCU.
Johnson moved to approve the following consent agenda:
October is Minnesota School Principal Recognition month. Mr. Jensen commended Mr. Tappe for a job well done.
Minnesota School Board Association Leadership Conference will be held January 15-16, 2015.
Nelson gave a report on Region 1 and Lakes Country Service Coop.
Wing gave a report on the Fergus Falls Special Ed Coop.

Mrs. Kraemer gave a report on Library, Study Skills, Elementary Music, Media Graphic Arts, and District Assessment.
Mr. Knick gave a report on 1st Grade.
STEM pilot project was discussed.
Operating Levy Referendum and Community Meetings were discussed.
Nelson made a motion to change the November Board meeting to November 19, 2014, 6:00 pm, due to a conflict with the MREA Conference. Spangler seconded. MCU.
LaRue made a motion to set the Election Canvass Meeting as November 10, 2014, 7:00 pm, in the Media Center of the Ashby School. Nelson seconded. MCU.
Johnson adopted Resolution No. 15.03 in support of Warren Nelson’s nomination to the Lakes Country Service Cooperative Board of Directors. LaRue seconded. Roll call vote: Hoff-yes, Spanger-yes, Nelson-yes, LaRue-yes, Johnson-yes, Wing-yes. Absent: Rylander. MCU.
Nelson made a motion to approve the Band and Choir Fund Raisers. LaRue seconded. MCU.
Spangler made a motion to approve the Junior Class Fund Raisers. Johnson seconded. MCU.
