The School Board of District 261 met in regular session on July 16, 2012 in the Media Center of the School. Chair Wing called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM with members Hoff, Johnson, Nelson, Rylander, Spangler, Van Santen, and Wing present. Also present were Superintendent Allan Jensen, Principal Shane Tappe, Renee Melby, Jeremy Knick, and Dwight Walvatne. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Rylander moved to approve the amended agenda. Van Santen seconded. MCU. Johnson moved to approve the following consent agenda:
Communications/Delegations Dwight Walvatne representing Ashby A’s shared with the board improvements needed on the baseball field. Nelson made a motion to approve the baseball field improvements as discussed. Van Santen seconded. MCU. Board Reports Nelson gave a report on Lakes Country Service Coop and Region I. Wing gave a report on Fergus Falls Special Ed Coop. Superintendent’s Report Mr. Jensen reported on the following:

Mr. Knick gave a report on Basketball Camp and the Elementary Gardens. Discussion Items MSBA Summer Seminar will be held August 6, 7 in Brooklyn Park. Sports Boosters is looking into a fundraiser to sell advertising signage on the outdoor sports complex. The Board gave approval of the advertising initiative. Johnson made a motion to approve a bean bag tournament fundraiser for the Class of 2014. Spangler seconded. MCU. Action Items Johnson made a motion to approve the FY12, FY13, and FY14 Health and Safety Budgets as presented. Nelson seconded. MCU. Van Santen made a motion to approve memberships in MSBA, MASSP, MASA, MREA, and MASBO for 2012-13. Rylander seconded. MCU. Nelson made a motion to set fees as follows: Admission Prices: Adults $5.00, Students $3.00, Seniors $3.00. Season passes: Fall: Family $40, Adult $30, Student $20, Seniors $10. Winter: Family $50, Adult $40, Student $20, Seniors $10. Activity fees: Grades 9-12 $50.00/activity, Grades 7-8 $25.00/activity. Family maximum $200.00/year. Rylander seconded. MCU.
