Good afternoon Arrows - It is time for another drawing of the Arrow Pride Award Winner. Keeping up with the Jone’s was a saying that originated from a comic strip that ran from the early 1900s to the 1940s. The saying refers to people trying to keep up with their neighbors with everything from the size of the house one has to cars, clothes, etc. This keeping up with the Joneses has people always trying to one-up each other.
Social media has made this worse by adding filters to just about anything, giving people the impression that each one of us has a perfect life. Though we are always striving to better ourselves, this should be done for our own good and the perception of ourselves, not the perception of others. Thanksgiving is a great time for us to reflect on the many positives we have. For one, I am thankful I get to come to work with groups of staff and students who believe in lifting each other up to be there best and the welcomes everyone in with open arms.
Take a moment this week to appreciate the good things you have. We all have our own baggage and nobody is perfect. Be thankful for those who are in your life, the opportunities you have and the gifts you use every day.
As Arrows we strive to live and learn The Arrow Way by excelling in academics, being responsible and respectful, taking advantage of all the opportunities bestowed upon us, working hard and finding success in all that we do. We are what makes this school a special place to work and learn.
Congratulations to those of you who were picked and good luck to all of you potential winners for next week’s Arrow Pride Awards.
