Good morning Arrows - It is time for another drawing of the Arrow Pride Award Winner. Doing the right thing is easy when things are going your way. When the masses are joined in and working towards the same goal, it is easy to stay the track and do what is right… for those who choose to be successful, they find a way to stand tall even in the darkest of times when it seems life is working against you. We develop character through life events. We make choices, often difficult ones and develop a sense of self to help guide us in life. Your character grows and develops as you stand your ground against adversity and put in the time and make the choices some of your peers won’t, to reach your goals and become the person you want to be. Those that can do this can foresee how their actions in school, on the field, in the community, and with their friends are going to affect them later in life. With this foresight, they make difficult decisions like staying in at night and studying, waking up early to get in a workout they missed the day before, helped a friend or community member in need instead of doing something for themselves. These character traits are what helped shape the Arrow Way and today we celebrate those who have stood their ground and made the tough choices to be their very best selves on a regular basis. The following students have shown us their best last week in learning and living the Arrow Way. I ask that the following students please come down to collect their Arrow Pride Award and to choose their reward for their efforts. October 21st Good afternoon Arrows - It is time for another drawing of the Arrow Pride Award Winner. Life is all about perception and choices. Your perception of life, school, work, friends, and family ultimately is going to lead you to make a choice on what you do in any given moment and time. For some, we can look at today as the beginning to another hard week of school, listening to teachers, dealing with friends and the drama that seems to surround them, and let’s not even get started on how the weather keeps playing games with us and of course on picture retake day it’s raining. Your perception of the day has now led you down a path to make decisions that will negatively affect your day. On the flip side, we can look at today as a new opportunity to push ourselves into reaching our goals, to build up those around us and to take on new challenges. Your teachers and staff here at APS are here to build you up so that your perception of life and school can be one that is positive, regardless of whether it is raining on a Monday or not. October 11th Good Afternoon Arrows - It is time for another drawing of the Arrow Pride Award Winner. For over one hundred years, Ashby Public School has had students walk through its halls. Year after year, students have left here to accomplish great things. It's because of the strength of our community and the dedication of our staff and students to excellence that this tradition continues. At the moment, it is hard to realize the significance your home and the school has on you. Often times, it is years later that one reflects on the positive impact their hometown had on them. For example, look at the Ashby Legacy Fund. Hundreds of Ashby graduates want you to have the same opportunities they had coming to school here and much more. So much that, they donate their time and money to ensure your time here is well spent and that you have the opportunity to leave here and accomplish whatever you want with the help of the Ashby Legacy Foundation Scholarship Program. This program wouldn’t happen if our graduates didn’t feel passionate about our great school. Our home is a great one and it deserves a week to be celebrated. Be proud of our small school and amazing community. Regardless of the scores during our volleyball and football games this week, raise your head high and be proud of who you are and what we represent. Ashby is a great place to live and learn and it is because of all of you and those who came before you. The following students have shown us their best this week in learning and living the Arrow Way.
